INFLATABLE RESTRAINT
SYSTEM (IF EQUIPPED)
Your vehicle may be equipped
with two air bags that may inflate
from the center of the steering
wheel and from the passenger side
of the instrument panel during a
frontal collision.
Your vehicle may also be equipped
with two side impact air bags that
may inflate from the outboard
sides of the front seatbacks during
a side collision.
CAUTION
Both the safety belt restraint
system and the air bag restraint
system are designed to best
protect adults.
Anyone who is up against, or
very close to, an inflating air
bag could be seriously injured
or killed.
Everyone in your vehicle who
has outgrown child restraints
should wear a safety belt
properly, whether or not there
is an air bag for that person.
Be sure that if children are too
small to be well restrained by
the safety belt system, that they
are secured in an appropriate
child restraint. See "Child
Restraints" later in this section.

Section
2
CAUTION
A child in a rear-facing child
restraint in the front passenger
seating position could be
seriously injured or killed if the
passenger's air bag inflates. This
is because the back of the
restraint would be very close to
the inflating air bag.
In vehicles with the front
passenger's inflatable restraint
system, always secure a
rear-facing child restraint in the
rear seat.
See "Child Restraints" later in
this section.
CAUTION
If you are too close to an inflat-
ing air bag, it could seriously
injure you. Safety belts help
keep you in position in case an
air bag inflates in a collision.
The driver should sit as far back
as possible while still able to
maintain control of the vehicle.
Do not drive with the steering
wheel tilted to the uppermost
position.
Vehicle occupants should not
lean or rest any body part
against the trim covering the air
bag modules.
CAUTION
Frontal air bags are not
designed to inflate at all in roll-
overs, rear collisions, or in many
side crashes.
Side impact air bags are not
designed to inflate in rollovers,
or in rear or frontal crashes.
