EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

ENGINE FIRE IN-FLIGHT
1. Fuel Cutoff Control – CUTOFF (OUT)
2. Propeller Control – FEATHER (OUT)
3. Fuel Selector – OFF
4. Battery and Generator – OFF (except IFR)
5. Cabin Heat and Air – OFF (except overhead vent)
6. Airspeed – 105 KIAS (If fire is not extinguished, increase glide
speed to find an airspeed which will provide an incombustible
mixture.)
7. Forced Landing – EXECUTE (as described in Emergency
Landing Without Engine Power).
ELECTRICAL FIRE IN-FLIGHT
1. Battery and Generator – OFF
2. All Other Switches – OFF
3. Vents/Cabin Air/Heat – CLOSED
4. Fire Extinguisher – ACTIVATE (if available)
WARNING
AFTER THE FIRE IS EXTINGUISHED, IF
AN OXYGEN SYSTEM IS AVAILABLE
AND BREATHING IS DIFFICULT,
OCCUPANTS SHOULD USE OXYGEN
MASK UNTIL SMOKE AND DISCHARGED
POWDER CLEARS. AFTER
DISCHARGING EXTINGUISHER WITHIN
A CLOSED CABIN, VENTILATE THE
CABIN.
If fire appears out and electrical power is necessary for continuance
of the flight:
1. Battery and Generator – ON
2. Monitor electrical load
3. Circuit Breakers – CHECK for faulty circuit, do not reset.
4. Radio/Electrical Switches – ON one at a time, with delay after
each until short circuit is localized.
5. Vents/Cabin Air/Heat – OPEN when it is ascertained that fire is
completely extinguished.
CABIN FIRE
1. Battery Switch- OFF
2. Generator Switch – OFF
3. Vents/Cabin Air/Heat – CLOSED (to avoid drafts)
