• Ensure that the pressure inside the “dead-end branches” does not
exceed the maximum allowed value
• Do not trap liquid CO2 between two ball valves or between a ball valve
and the expansion valve
2.12.2 Unit position and use of traps
If Heos Box is positioned higher than the evaporator, a trap must be made
in the vertical segment of the piping. If the vertical segment of piping is
more than 5 metres long, use a series of traps so that the maximum length
of each vertical segment is 5 m.
If Heos Box is positioned lower than the evaporator, a double trap system
must be used, positioned at a height equal to the maximum height of
the evaporator and upstream of the vertical suction pipe section that runs
towards the Heos Box unit. The above descriptions are explained in the
following images.

2.12.3 Evaporator combination requirements
When sizing the evaporator, it is important to select the correct diameter
and the number of circuits, taking into consideration the minimum cooling
capacity needed to carry the oil.
The tables below show the minimum cooling capacity of the evaporator
as a function of:
• Operating conditions;
• Pipe diameter;
• Number of circuits per heat exchanger
For the best choice of the heat exchanger, make sure that the required
design cooling capacity is higher than the value shown in the table that
guarantees oil return.
