Consider the use of the
Network Planner
when configuring your
devices in the lab. After the devices are placed onto the canvas of
the
Network Planner
and settings are specified, the software
provides a way to connect to each device individually (in turn) and
configure it. It operates in a similar manner to
DevConfig
, except
that the settings are pushed into the device in a more automated
manner. A checklist guides you through the process of isolating
each device one at a time and connecting it to your computer to be

10.3.2 Field Deployment Considerations
For larger networks, you should develop a strategy specifying the order of
operations for deploying your stations. Each CRVW3 radio network consists
of: one
LoggerNet
station, one base station, one or more CRVW3 end-nodes,
and one or more repeater stations. Some CRVW3 end-nodes require repeaters
to communicate, while others communicate directly with the base station
(single-hop).
In most cases it is helpful to install repeater stations and the CRVW3 devices
that require them at the end of your deployment cycle. By ensuring during the
first part of your deployment that single-hop CRVW3 devices are operating
properly with the base station and with
LoggerNet
, the level of complexity is
reduced for the repeater station validation process.
One common approach would be to first install the CRVW3 end-nodes that
connect directly with the base station, followed by the installation of the base
station itself and then the installation of the permanent
LoggerNet
station. With
those items in place and functioning, attention can be given to installation of
the CRVW3 devices that require repeaters and the actual repeater sites.
Another approach would be to install the base station first, followed by the
CRVW3 end-nodes that connect directly to the base station. After that the
LoggerNet
station can be configured and validated. Installation of CRVW3
stations requiring repeaters and the actual repeater sites would be last.
