CRVW3 3-Channel Vibrating-Wire Datalogger
100
communicate with the CRVW3 again. You may need to re-connect to the
device in
Connect Screen
.
There are risks associated with changing the settings of a
remote CRVW3 using the
Settings
screen. It is possible to
change the settings on the device in a way that causes it to
stop communicating with
LoggerNet
. At that point, a field-
visit is required to restore communications between the
device and
LoggerNet
. Consider each change carefully and
only apply it once you understand what impact it will have.
Settings that relate to the measurement process are usually
safer to change than settings that relate to radio
communications.
You should pause the monitoring of a table (such as
VW_Data) in the
Connect Screen
Table Monitor
, if it will be
impacted by the change to the settings. (Use the
Stop
button). It is also recommended that you edit settings when
LoggerNet
is not automatically collecting data from other
CRVW3 devices on the same radio network (that is, a
scheduled collection) or communicating in other ways with
those devices.
12.2 CRVW3 On-site Maintenance Visits
It is wise to schedule periodic visits to the deployment site of a CRVW3
station. Consider making a visit to inspect each CRVW3 station after the
winter season (in climates where heavy cold-weather precipitation occurs or
where extreme temperatures occur). Heavy-rain events can also affect the
operation of a station in some cases.
The following maintenance operations can be performed after arriving at the
site:
•
Check and change the battery or batteries if needed
•
Check cable entry points for a good seal
•
Wipe moisture off of the lid gasket prior to opening (reduce water
ingress)
•
Minimize moisture intrusion through cabling or connectors to the
inside of the enclosure
•
Check grounding rod, grounding cable, and connections
•
Inspect for loose connections
•
Clean solar panel with mild detergent and a clean cloth
•
Replace desiccant (pn 4905) and humidity indicator card (pn 28878)
as needed
•
Remove any solar barriers (fallen debris, overhead branches, leaves,
etc.)
•
Install newer firmware/OS (
DevConfig
) — Refer to Appendix
