OTIFICATIONS
With the notification feature, you can manage how and when you are notified about events. You can choose
up to four types of notification methods and select from five levels of priority.
There are four ways to be notified about events:
You can prioritize your events using the following five levels, in ascending order, as shown in
Table 6
:
Pop-up
Displays a pop-up message informing you of the event on the local
machine.
Sends notification events to the specified e-mail address and allows you
to specify a known user's e-mail address as the sender (the mail server
and e-mail address must be configured).
The system name is automatically placed in the subject line of the
message and is included in the body of the e-mail. For example, a Red
Hat 9 system name would be “dhcp-mhta-5-15.nenbroadcom.com.”
Event Log
Sends event information to the error log. WARNING, CRITICAL, and
FATAL events cannot be disabled.
Audible
Alarm
Sounds an alarm from the system speaker to notify the user of
CRITICAL or FATAL events.
