Managing Controllers, Arrays, and Disks: bcadm --manage
Page 125
--blink, -b
The Blink option causes the LEDs on the controller or on a properly attached disk enclosure to blink for the
specified disk or the disks in a specified array.
This option uses either
--disk
or
--array
as a qualifier, but not both at once. You can specify only one disk or
array at a time; you cannot use an asterisk (*) with this command.
--prepare-to-remove, -ptr
The Prepare to Remove Array option prepares arrays to be physically removed from the system but not
deleted. This command is used to remove an array from a running system and install it on another system.
This command removes the array from the configuration, but only until the next rescan. It also hides the array,
which prevents the operating system from accessing the array and possibly making it go offline before it can
be removed.
Specify all arrays that are associated with the disk(s) to be removed. This option uses
--array
as a qualifier.
Notes:
•
If the LED cables between a disk enclosure and the controller are not properly connected, the
wrong disks may be identified.
•
The LEDs for disks that are assigned as dedicated spares for an array do not blink.
•
If the system is actively transforming or restoring an array, the disks associated with both the
source array and the destination array blink.
Long form:
--blink [--disk <num>] [--array <num>]
Short form:
-b [-d <num>] [-a <num>]
Example 1:
bcadm --manage --blink --array 2
Example 2:
bcadm -M -b -d 4
Caution!
When a RAIDCore BC4000 Series RAID controller detects that a drive has been
disconnected, you are prompted to rescan. If you are removing an array disk by disk,
it is important
that you do not perform a rescan until the last disk has been removed or data loss will occur.
Long form:
--prepare-to-remove --array <list>
Short form:
-ptr -a <list>
Example 1:
bcadm --manage --prepare-to-remove --array 2
Example 2:
bcadm -M -ptr -a 4
