Trim Tabs 

This vessel is equipped with powered trim tabs 

(see Figure 3.11.2). The trim tab electrical circuit 

is protected with a 20 amp fuse located inside 

the console storage/head. Trim tabs assist with 

leveling the vessel when there is uneven weight 

distribution or strong cross winds. Trim tab use may 

also increase operator visibility, particularly during 

initial acceleration. An untrimmed boat reduce fuel 

economy and increase wear on the engine.

Operation

The trim tabs are controlled by rocker switches 

located at the helm (see Figure 3.11.1). Short 

momentary bursts of the rockers will achieve proper 

attitude of the hull. Using the trim tabs will:

•  Level the boat fore and aft, port and starboard
•  Reduce steering system resistance
•  Increase speed
•  Reduce strain on the engine.
•  Provide a smoother, more stable ride.

Visibility from the helm station may be limited, 

use of trim tabs may be necessary to maintain 

adequate visibility in some running conditions. 

Avoid serious injury or death from collisions. 

Maintain  a  lookout  as  required  by  USCG 

Navigation Rules.
