5. Refit the heater assembly to the pump: refer to Section 5.8.2.
6. Refit the radiation shield: refer to Section 5.7.
7. Check that the pump-inlet-flange is thoroughly clean then position the Co-Seal or ‘O’ ring assembly
(as applicable) on the flange.
8. Leak-test the pump, fill the pump with fluid and re-install the pump as described in Section 3.
5.7 Clean the radiation shield
You must keep the radiation shield around the boiler clean to maintain thermal efficiency.
To clean the external surface of the radiation shield:
1. Switch off the pump and allow it to cool.
2. Use a soft cloth (and a suitable cleaning solution, if necessary) to wipe the radiation shield.
If you need to clean the internal surface of the radiation shield:
3. Remove the nuts and washers which secure the shield and remove the shield.
4. Clean the interior of the shield, then refit the shield.
5.8 Replace the pump heater
Note: When you replace the heater, we recommend that you check the fluid charge and the condition of the
pump fluid (refer to Sections 5.4 and 5.5).
5.8.1 Remove the old heater
1. Switch off the EO pump and allow it to cool. Isolate the pump from the electrical supply.
2. If there is insufficient room for you to work under the pump:
• Drain the fluid from the pump and remove the interior assemblies as described in
Section 5.6.2.
• Turn the pump over.
3. Remove the terminal-box cover, and then disconnect the electrical supply cable from the terminal-
block.
4. Remove the heater assembly securing nut from the underside of the pump, then remove the heater
assembly.
5. Undo and remove the terminal nuts, then disconnect the electrical supply wires from the heater.
6. Remove the old heater.
WARNING
Ensure that you isolate the pump from the electrical supply before you start work. If you
do not, there will be a risk of injury or death by electric shock.
