3.4.2 Connect the pump inlet and outlet
Note: If your pump is not free-standing, you will have connected the inlet in Section 3.3.2.
On EO2K and EO4K pumps, use the seals supplied with the pump to connect the pump inlet and outlet
to your vacuum and exhaust system pipelines. On EO6K pumps, you must supply your own seal to
connect the pump inlet to your vacuum system pipeline, and use the seal supplied with the pump to
connect the pump outlet to your exhaust system pipeline.
Take note of the following recommendations:
• Inspect and thoroughly clean the ‘O’ rings and the ‘O’ ring grooves before you connect the pump.
• When you fit ‘O’ rings, make sure that they are not twisted.
• To ease installation, coat all Co-Seals and ‘O’ rings with a light wipe of the pump fluid or vacuum
grease before fitting.
• Before you fit the pump to the system, ensure that all sealing-faces are clean and scratch-free;
refinish these faces if necessary.
• Use acetone or another suitable cleaning solution to clean the pump flanges before you connect
the pump to your vacuum system.
• Use the correct number and size of bolts, or use the correct number of claw clamps, or use the
correct rotatable flange packs to connect the pump to your vacuum system.
To connect the pump-inlet:
• EO2K - Use the Co-Seal supplied and bolt the pump inlet to your vacuum system or to your inlet
pipeline.
• EO4K - Use a Co-Seal and four ISO claw clamps or two rotatable flange packs to connect the
pump-inlet to an ISO 160 port on your vacuum system or to your inlet pipeline: see Figure 11.
• EO6K - Use a trapped ‘O’ ring (not supplied) and bolt the pump inlet to your vacuum system or to
your inlet pipeline.
To connect the pump backing-outlet:
1. Fit the NW elbow supplied to the pump backing-flange as shown in Figures 1 to 4.
2. Use suitable NW fittings (not supplied) to connect the elbow to your backing pipeline.
WARNING
Conduct the outlet pipeline to a suitable treatment plant to prevent the discharge of
dangerous gases and vapours to the surrounding atmosphere.
