5.4 Check the pump fluid-level
Note: If you use the pump for high-throughput applications, we recommend that you check the fluid-level at least
once a month.
If the EO pump boiler operates at a higher than normal temperature, check the level of fluid in the pump
boiler as described below.
1. Switch off the EO pump, allow it to cool, and then open it to atmospheric pressure.
2. If the pump fluid is too cold to be drained from the pump (for example, if the pump contains
Santovac 5 fluid which is very viscous at normal ambient temperatures), switch on the pump heater
for a maximum of two minutes to warm the pump fluid to aid draining. Do not vaporise the pump
fluid.
3. Place a suitable container underneath the fluid drain-plug (see Figure 16). Remove the drain-plug
and allow the pump fluid to drain into the container.
4. Measure the amount of fluid in the container.
5. Refit the drain-plug.
6. Refill the pump with the correct amount of fluid as specified in Table 4.

WARNING
Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment when you drain the fluid from the
pump. Hot fluid can cause burns, and dangerous substances may be present if the pump
fluid has undergone thermal breakdown.
