Make the electrical connections
3.5.1
Introduction
Note: Refer to Figure 12 for the recommended electrical control circuit for the pump.
You must use a suitable isolator which incorporates an over-current trip to connect your electrical
supply to the pump.
We recommend that you connect the electrical supply to the pump through an RCCB (residual current
circuit breaker): the RCCB will operate to disconnect the electrical supply if the insulation resistance of
the heater is too low. (As described in Section 1.5, when the pump is switched off, the heater in the pump
will absorb moisture: this will cause a decrease in the insulation resistance of the heater.)
You must use an electrical supply cable which is suitably rated for the total heater loading of the pump.
You must provide suitable cable restraint and strain relief for the electrical supply cable.
For additional electrical safety:

Incorporate fuses in your electrical supply. The fuses must be suitably rated, in accordance with the
requirements in Table 7.
•
We recommend that you use suitable conduit with a conduit fitting to connect the electrical supply.
If you do not use conduit, use a cable which is heat resistant (up to 150
o
C) in case of accidental
contact with the pump.

Fit an emergency stop button, so that you can easily shut down the pump in an emergency. If you
fit an emergency stop button, it must be clearly marked, and must be easily accessible.
WARNING
A competent electrician must make the electrical connections to the pump.
WARNING
Ensure that the electrical installation of the pump conforms with your local and national
safety requirements, and make the electrical connections as described in this section. If
you do not, the pump may not operate safely.
