Serial/IP Advanced Settings

button to open Serial

IP Advanced Settings window

The Serial
/
IP Advanced Settings window contains two tabs
:
Options and Proxy Server
.
On the Options tab, you can
click on Use Default Settings button
to load the default settings
.
Detail description of each options and how to set
a proxy server will be explained in the following subsections
.

Advanced Settings Options
Under the Options tab, you can enable a number of advanced settings and enter required parameters for Serial
/
IP
software
.
Description of each option is provided as follows
.
Extend Server Connection
:
When enabled, this option
maintains the TCP connection for specified amount of
time after COM port is closed
.
The default time value is 8000 milliseconds
.
Attempt Server Connection
:
When enabled, this option
terminates pending connection attempts if they do
not succeed in the specified time
.
The default time value is 2000 milliseconds
.
Synchronize with Server Upon COM Port Open
:
This option is
required by Windows NT Operating Systems
(
also for Windows
2000, XP, Vista, 7
).
Update Routing Table Upon COM Port Open
:
When enabled, this option
maintains IP route to a server in a
different subnet by modifying the IP routing table
.
Enable Nagle Algorithm
:
When enabled, this option
provides better network efficiency by imposing a minor
latency on the data stream
(
TCP connection
)
while it waits to fill network packets
.
Always Limit Data Rate to COM Port Baud Rate
:
When enabled, this option limits the data rate to the baud
