Shutdown
To shutdown film coater operation:
1. Shut down the coating system. Refer to the applicable coating system manual for
instructions.
2. Fill the fluid system with solvent. Refer to the applicable coating system manual for
instructions.
3. Run the purge program as described in steps 3-6 under
4. If you have a SC-105 Film Coater perform the following steps, otherwise go directly to Step 6.
a. Disconnect the tilt link from the tilt lever.
b. Remove the tilt mechanism from the extension.
5. Remove the nozzle holder or the nozzle nut and the nozzle from the extension. Immerse the
parts in the appropriate cleaning solvent.
CAUTION!
Use an Asymtek nozzle brush to scrub the nozzle. Do not use a steel brush or any
other type of brush that will damage the nozzle carbide tip.
NOTES
If the nozzle orifices are blocked, insert a probe or broach into the orifice
against the direction of fluid flow. Do not twist the probe or broach or try to
clean the orifice with a sawing motion.
If the nozzle, nozzle nut, or tilt mechanism are not properly cleaned, coating
material will build up over time and clog the nozzle orifice. This will result in
restricted or blocked flow or pattern alteration. If this problem occurs, immerse
the nozzle, nozzle nut, or tilt mechanism in an appropriate solvent (such as
MEK). Soak the nozzle, nozzle nut, or tilt mechanism overnight before cleaning.
6. Dry the nozzle, nozzle nut, or tilt mechanism and inspect the orifices for any blockage.
7. Reinstall the parts, or store all removed parts in a safe place.
