Position the Machine
Park the Machine
Park the 6700B on firm level ground away from over-
head obstructions or hazards such as electrical wires.

WARNING
When unfolding the conveyor, watch that no part
of the conveyor catches or tangles with any part
of the frame, overhead obstacles, or overhead
electrical lines.
Make sure that the machine is parked in an area where
it can be safely operated.
If the machine must be backed into position, be aware
that there are blind spots to the towing vehicle driver.
An assistant should observe and signal the driver to
help guide the machine to a safe parking spot.
Use wheel chocks any time the 6700B is parked,
whether at the operating site or during temporary park-
ing.

OTE
:
The trailer brakes set automatically when discon-
nected from the towing vehicle.
Lower the Landing Gear and Level
the Machine

WARNING
Do not park or operate the 6700B on unstable
ground or on ground that is too soft to support
the landing gear. Do not operate the machine
unless it is approximately level from side-to-
side.

To lower and raise the landing gear:
1.
Start the engine according to “Start the Engine” on
page 70. It is not necessary to raise engine speed
above idle.
2.
Inspect the landing gear (Figure 93). Make sure the
leg travel is not obstructed. Make sure that the
hydraulic cylinders and hoses are not damaged.

the landing gear.

Once the landing gear are on solid ground, raise the
front of the machine enough to disconnect from the
towing vehicle. Instruct the driver to remove the
vehicle from the work area.

OTE
:
Full range of extension and retraction of landing
gear legs is about 20 in. (50 cm).
5.
Adjust each leg to level the machine from side-to-
side and front-to-back.
6.
Stop the engine—Turn the
E
NGINE
Start/Stop
switch to the
(Stop) position.
7.
Lock out the Battery Disconnect Switch.

Crushing hazard—Do not go under the machine
unless the landing gear is either secured by the
safety pins or supported on blocks.
