To inspect the grinding area parts:

Details on checking and adjusting the following items
can be found in section 5000 of the 6700B Maintenance Man-
ual.
1. Check the Compression Roll Housing Wear
Plates (Figure 113). Check for wear.
2. Check the Anvil Housing Wear Plate
(Figure 113). Check for wear.
3. Open the side access door.
4. Check the Rotor Wear Plates (Figure 113). Check
for wear and bolt tightness.
Repair or replace the plates when the plates wear
down to the countersunk bolt heads or if any holes
appear in the plates.
Important
Do not operate with less than 50% remaining mate-
rial in the thickness of the wear plates.
5. Check the Rotor . Make sure the rotor can rotate
freely and is not blocked by compacted material.

6. Check the Grates . Make sure 1/2 in. (13 mm) of
the material thickness remains in the grates. Access
to the grates is through the side door (Figure 114).

The middle of the grates wear more than the
sides.
7. Check the Grate Supports (Figure 114). Check
for bent and damaged parts. Make sure the supports
are not loose or dragging on the discharge belt.

8. Check the Grate Support Shear Bolts . There are
four grate support shear bolts (Figure 115 and
Figure 116), two on each side of the machine. Make
sure they are not sheared or over-tightened. Prop-
erly tightened bolts can be turned easily with a
wrench.
