NXA-WAP200G Wireless Access Point
Advanced Wireless Configuration Page
Before making any changes in the Advanced Wireless section, please check your wireless settings
on other pages, these changes will alter the effectiveness of the Access Point. In most cases, these
default wireless settings provide maximum performance and do not need to be changed. This page
can be accessed by pressing the
Advanced
tab from the bottom row of the Configuration Utility.
The fields in the Access Control page (FIG. 45) are described in the table below.
Advanced Wireless Configuration Page Information
Fragmentation Threshold:
Specifies the size maximum that wireless data packets can reach before the
data is fragmented into multiple packets. This value should be configured to the
default setting of
2346
(default).
• A smaller setting means smaller packets, which create more packets to be
transmitted, but might improve performance in noisy wireless networks.
RTS Threshold:
Specifies the type of protocol being used. If the value increases, RTS (Request
To Send) and CTS (Clear To Send) protocols will be implemented.
• This is used in order to maintain performance in noisy wireless networks and
prevent hidden nodes from degrading performance.
• Default value is
2432
.
Beacon Period (SSID):
SSID beacons are sent out periodically. This is the number of milliseconds
between each beacon.
• Default value is
100
.
DTIM Interval:
Number of beacons per DTIM (Delivery Traffic Indication Message).
• Example:
1
means send a DTIM with each beacon,
2
means with every 2nd
beacon, etc.
Default value is 1.
Collision Avoidance Time:
Eliminates collisions in mixed-mode networks, while greatly increasing the
performance of both pure 802.11g and mixed 802.11b/g networks.
• This setting reserves time to send data without requiring an ACK. This
number is in units of microseconds. A typical value would be 650
microseconds. When this number is zero, bursting is disabled.
• Default value is
600
.
Enable PSM Buffer:
(Power Save Mode)
Enable/disable the ability to provide support for stations with power save
capabilities.
Save/Cancel:
• Press the
Save
button to incorporate the new information to the WAP200G.
• Press the
Cancel
button to terminate the process and return the fields to
their default values.
