Symptom
Possible Cause
Remedy
No output
Power supply voltage too low or too high Measure voltage at power supply
Wiring incorrect or damaged
Verify wiring is correct.
Measure voltage at various points to verify integrity
Transmitter distance reading correct
but level or volume output incorrect
Configuration incorrect
Review configuration parameters
Transmitter distance reading short
versus measured distance (level or
volume reading high)
Map mismatch due to tank geometry
re-map to just above known level
Locked onto the Nozzle
Remap to just above known level
Increase Upper Dead Zone past nozzle
“Probe Length” variable too long for
actual probe
Correct variable/probe length/nozzle adapter
location
Transmitter in “First” mode
Switch transmitter to “Largest” mode
Transmitter distance reading long
versus measured distance (level or
volume reading low)
Signals too small, picking up end of
probe
Run tank profile using HRTWin
Adjust threshold lower
Second signal larger than the first
Switch to “First” mode
Signal/level mapped out
Restore factory map then re-map to just above
known level
Transmitter is reading “Lost Echo”/no
return signal
Signals too small
Run tank profile using HRTWin
Adjust threshold lower
Foamy or turbulent surface
Run tank profile using HRTWin
Adjust threshold lower
Broken interconnect cable
Contact “Service Department”
“Probe Length” variable too short for
desired probe
Correct variable/probe length/nozzle adapter
location
Transmitter locked in “Near Zone”
Level too high
lower level
Message
Cause
Solution
OVER
calculated range percentage is greater than 105%
Level is higher than URV setting, adjust URV if
necessary
UNDER
calculated range percentage is less than -0.5%
Level is lower than LRV setting, adjust LRV if
necessary
NO COMM - Error 7
Display board is not receiving messages from
Power Supply board
Check that voltage at unit is within specification.
BAD COMM - Error 5
Power Supply Board is not receiving messages
from the Display board
Replace Display board.
PWM - ERROR 6
(appears very dim)
A newer, incompatible Multmode Power Supply
board has been attached.
Replace Display with newer MultiMode version
PWM - ERROR 6
(normal contrast)
Malfunction in Display board
Replace Display board.
PS REV - Error 8
An older, incompatible Power Supply board is
attached to the display
Replace Power Supply board with newer MultiMode
Section 6: Troubleshooting
The Impulse Series Level system is designed to give years of uattended ser-
vice. No periodic or sheduled maintenance is required.
6.1 Diagnostic Messages
6.2 Troubleshooting
1.) Verify the distance from the bottom of the sensor mounting to the level. Us-
ing distance seperates measurement errors from most configuration errors.
2.) It will be necessary to record signals using the Tank Profile window in HR-
TWin
.
