Impulse™ Series

2.5.2 Installation on Non Metal Vessels

The Impulse® TDR requires a metal surface at the mounting. When

mounting either a Single Rod or Single Cable probe without Wave Guide

Nozzle Eliminator on a non-metal vessel, use a 2” or greater ANSI metal

flange to act as a “launch plate” directly at the instrument mounting. A

launch plate can be fabricated with an 8” (200 mm) diameter metal disc

that can be threaded in constant contact with the metal NPT mounting

thread placed above a non-metal flange or thread mounting.

Twin element probes (coaxial, twin rod or twin cable) do not require a

launch plate.

Installation on Non Metal Vessels

The Impulse™ TDR requires a metal surface at the mounting. When mounting

either a Single Rod or Single Cable probe on a non-metal vessel, use either a 2”

or greater metal flange or a metal “launch plate” directly at the instrument

mounting. A launch plate can be fabricated with an 8” (200 mm) diameter metal

disc that can be threaded in constant contact with the metal NPT mounting

thread placed above a non-metal flange or thread mounting.

Twin element probes (coaxial, twin rod or twin cable) do not require a launch

plate.

AMETEK Drexelbrook Launch Plate provides an 8” (200 mm) diameter disc in

light gauge aluminum for use in non-metal vessel installations. This accessory

should not be placed in contact with the process material.
