Sensor System Selection Guide
Single Flexible Cable & Single Rigid Rod Sensors:
Intended for use with liquids and slurries applications that meet the
following criteria:
• Dielectric constant: K > 1.9 - 10. When sensor is mounted within 3"-6"
(75-150mm) of ground reference. No mounting restrictions on K > 10.
• No physical obstructions within the electromagnetic pulse diameter of
12 inches (305 mm) from sensing element.
• Mounting nozzle ratio (height vs. diameter): 1:1
• For mounting nozzles greater than 1:1, a wave guide nozzel elimination
will be required.
• Measurement lengths limited to 50ft or less.
Twin Flexible Cable & Twin Rigid Rod Sensors:
Intended for use with liquids that do not bridge between the twin elements
to help avoid false reflections from internal obstructions that may be near
the sensor and/or in stilling wells that meet the following criteria:
• Dielectric constant: K > 1.9
• No physical obstructions within the pulse diameter of 4 inches (100 mm) from
the sensing element
• Mounting nozzle ratio (height vs. diameter): 1:1
• Measurement lengths limited to 50ft or less
Rigid Coaxial Sensors:
Intended for use with non-coating, low viscosity liquids, and where the
mounting nozzles are in excess of a 1:1 ratio and meets the following
criteria:
• Dielectric constant: K > 1.4
• Internal obstructions close to, or touching the coaxial sensor
• Mounting nozzle ratio (height vs. diameter): no restriction
• Measurement lengths limited to 20 ft. (6 m) or less
