Preparing for startup
The motor of the vibratory plate is supplied without fuel and oil in
it.
Fuel the vibratory plate as described under “Fuelling” in the
“Motor Operating Instructions”
Oil guard
The motor of the vibratory plate is equipped with an oil guard that
protects the motor against damage if the oil level is too low.
The motor shuts off on its own if the oil level is too low. Replenish
motor oil in this case as described in the section “Checking the motor
oil level” in the motor's operating instructions.
Please refer to the “Motor Operating Instructions” for
more information on the motor.
Start-up
Check that the machine is completely and correctly assembled.
Before each use, check
the machine for possible damage:
loose fasteners
Make sure that the ON/OFF switch, the clutch, the throttle lever
and the machine work properly.
Do not use any device where the switch cannot be switched
on and off. Damaged switches must be repaired or replaced
immediately by customer service.
The engine of the machine is supplied without gasoline and oil in
it. Fuel the device as described under ”Fuelling”.
Please refer to the ”Engine Operating Instructions“ for more
information on starting the motor.
Before start of work
Before starting any work ensure the following:
You may not start to operate the machine until you have read these
operating instructions, observed all the instructions given and
installed the machine as described!
Provide for a safe and clean workplace.
Before starting your work make sure that:
the device is in good and safe condition
all screw connections are firmly tightened
no other persons (children) or animals stay close the working
area
you can always step back without any barriers,
you always have a secure standing position.
Working with the vibratory plate
The device can be used to compact small and medium-size
areas.
Do not work on concrete-covered surfaces or very hard, dry
and dense soil. The device will then start knocking on the
surface instead of vibrating, which could cause damage to the
vibratory plate and the motor.
Undercarriage
The vibratory plate is equipped with an undercarriage for easier
transport. Swivel the undercarriage to the working position before
starting work.
Pull out the securing pin (7).
Swivel the undercarriage (8) under the vibratory plate.
Work instructions
Risk of injury!
Work only with solid shoes with toe protection
cap (safety shoes).
The vibratory plate is equipped with a centrifugal clutch which
ensures that the gearbox starts to turn at increasing rotational
speed.
Make sure that the motor always works at full throttle. If the
motor runs at lower speeds, this reduces the compacting force
and travel speed. This may result in excess wear of the machine.
Switch off the motor immediately if the device vibrates
unusually strong or is unusually loud. Check the device.
The vibratory plate moves forward on its own during operation.
Exerting pressure on the handle on level terrain is not necessary.
You can steer the device by moving the handle slightly to the left or
right.
Slightly push the vibratory plate forward on uneven terrain or slight
inclines.
Working on slopes
Be sure to use this machine only on slopes with a gradient
<10°.
Fill the fuel tank only up to half its capacity.
When working on a slope, move first uphill.
Never work partially or fully perpendicular to the slope.
Be careful when changing the direction!
Reduce the speed on sloped surfaces by pulling the handle
toward yourself.
Depending on the condition of the ground, you will need 3-4
passes for optimal compacting.
Although a certain amount of moisture is required in the ground,
excessive moisture prevents good compacting. Allow the
ground to dry before compacting if it is very wet.
When using the vibratory plate on asphalt, a water sprinkler
device must be used to prevent the base plate from sticking to
the surface of the hot asphalt.
Use a rubber mat when compacting paving stones, concrete
slabs or similar.
If the ground is dry enough for dust to develop during work,
some moisture should be added to improve compacting. This
also prevents the air filter from clogging too quickly.
Observe all safety instructions in any case.
