6.2 Cable fitting
Use of the following cables is recommended:
−
Screened multi-strand cable must be used for digital input-output signals. For cables
within the cubicle, the cable screen can be connected to the earth at both ends of the
cable. If the cable is taken beyond the system cubicle, the cable screen should be
earthed at one end only to prevent current flowing in the screen due to any difference
in ground potential.

A screened twisted pair must be used for analogue input-output signals. The screen is
connected to the earth at the end on the Bay Module side.

One or two screened twisted pairs must be used for lower communication signals. The
screen is connected to the earth by two cable ends.
It is recommended to group the cables and link them together to the nearest earth plane, or
to an element of the earth wire-mesh.
6.3 Power supply wiring
This product has two power supply inputs for redundancy.
ATTENTION: YOU MUST MAKE CONNECTION TO BOTH POWER SUPPLY INPUTS.
THE INPUTS ARE SUITABLE FOR CONNECTION TO INDEPENDENT
SUPPLIES, OR THEY CAN BE CONNECTED TO A COMMON SUPPLY.
IF YOU FAIL TO MAKE CONNECTION TO BOTH INPUTS YOU WILL
EXPERIENCE A POWER SUPPLY ALARM WHEN THE SWITCH IS
ENERGISED. CONNECTION EXAMPLES ARE SHOWN IN THE FIGURE
BELOW.

Connection to the main power supply input uses a three terminal connector which should be
wired according to the figure below. Connection to the redundant power supply input uses a
two-terminal connector of similar construction.
