Manual
When manual recovery is selected, the system places the failed source in the disabled
state. The source is not used as a source of synchronization until manually enabled
and selected.

Intra- and inter-sector links
Within a network, it may be desirable or necessary to define sectors which have
independent timing hierarchies. For example, a network that links North America to
Europe would require a North American sector and a European sector to
accommodate the differences between the two timing reference standards.
Sectors are created by enabling or disabling the ANS option on CPSS links. When
the ANS option is enabled, ANS timing and source routing information is included
with the CPSS messages.
A CPSS link with ANS enabled is called an intra-sector link; this type of link is part
of a sector.
A CPSS link with ANS disabled (the default state) is called an inter-sector link; this
type of link provides a timing boundary between sectors. Inter-sector links can also
exist within a sector when the link cannot be used for ANS messages.
A link can only be used for ANS if there is one CPSS channel configured on that link.
If a link is configured with more than one CPSS channel, the ANS option is
automatically disabled.
Figure 13-2 shows an example where two sectors, A and B, have been formed using
intra- and inter-sector links.

Modem connections are not programmable; the system
always sees these links as inter-sector links.
