Drop traffic goes to the devices connected to the drop and insert node; insert traffic
comes from the devices connected to the node. Drop and insert traffic between Nodes
A and B cross-connect through P2; traffic between Nodes C and B cross-connect
through P1.

Bypass configuration
A node is considered to be a bypass node when there is no traffic between its primary
rate modules and its data modules. All primary rate traffic received on one primary
rate module is passed to the other primary rate module. A node can be configured for
bypass operation by cross-connecting circuits between the two primary rate modules.

If the circuit is already connected, a warning appears on the screen.

Note —
If a 2902 MainStreet node loses power and there are two
E1 G.703 LIMs installed, all connections are dropped and the node
automatically operates as a bypass node. If one or both LIMs are
E1 HDSL or E1 Optical LIMs, the node does not operate in bypass
mode because E1 HDSL and E1 Optical LIMs do not have on-board
bypass relays.
