Adapter

It physically connects the cartridge and the infusion set. The adapter’s built-in needle
pierces the cartridge’s rubber membrane, thus allowing insulin to flow. Combined
with the rubber o-ring, it forms an efficient seal for the cartridge compartment of your
insulin pump. The built-in valve prevents the uncontrolled emptying of the insulin car-
tridge in case of pressure and level differences between your insulin pump and the
infusion site.

Accu-Chek DiaLog Pump Programming tool

This pump programming tool allows the fast and easy change of parameters and set-
tings directly from your personal computer. In addition, it allows the download and
display of all data stored in the data memory of your insulin pump.

Basal rate

The amount of insulin needed to cover your basic insulin needs. In pump therapy, your
basal rate is determined together with your doctor or health care team and can be
adjusted to meet your individual physiological needs throughout the day. Your basal
rate is delivered by your insulin pump according to the curve of your personal basal
rate profile or profiles.

Basal rate profile

Your insulin pump provides  the option of delivering two different basal rate profiles
(A and B) in order to easily meet changing insulin needs (for example during the week
versus on the weekend). A basal rate profile consists of 24 programmed hourly basal
rates.

Bolus

The amount of insulin delivered in addition to the basal rate to cover the intake of
food and correct high blood glucose levels.

Cartridge

The insulin reservoir of your insulin pump. It holds 3.0 ml of short-acting insulin U100
or fast-acting U100 insulin analogues, equal to 300 insulin units.

Cartridge compartment

The opening in your insulin pump for the cartridge.
