4.2 Return the piston rod
The piston rod must be returned in order to insert a new cartridge. After you return
the piston rod, your insulin pump performs a self-test.
To return the piston rod
1. Make sure your insulin pump is in STOP and the KeyLock is
deactivated or the keys are unlocked.
2. Remove the old cartridge if applicable.
3. Press
d
twice to select the return the piston rod menu.
4. Confirm with
f
.
The return the piston rod symbol flashes.
Info: If you have unintentionally activated this
function, press
d
once or wait 20 seconds* to exit
and to put your insulin pump into STOP .
* This parameter may vary based on the standard configuration of your insulin pump
and changes made using the Accu-Chek DiaLog Pump Programming tool.
23. Slowly repeat the pumping process until the glass cartridge
is filled with insulin and free of air bubbles.
24. Allow the plunger rod of the plastic cartridge to slide back
to the mechanical stop of the CombiFill base.
By doing so pressure is equalized and an uncontrolled lea-
kage of insulin from the glass cartridge is avoided.
4.1.4 Remove the cartridges from the CombiFill
(steps 25 to 28)
25. Separate the CombiFill extension with the glass cartridge
from the CombiFill base with the plastic cartridge.
26. Place the protective cap onto the filling needle.
27. Remove the empty plastic cartridge from the CombiFill base
and dispose of the cartridge and the filling needle properly.
28. Remove the glass cartridge from the CombiFill extension.
The full glass cartridge can now be placed in your insulin
pump or stored for later use, according to your doctor or
health care team’s recommendations.
Info: Keep the CombiFill base and extension to
use again.
