To get fast, complete and reliable information about disturbances in the primary and/or in the
secondary system it is very important to gather information. It is also important having a
continuous event-logging to be able to monitor in an overview perspective. These tasks are
accomplished by the disturbance report function DRPRDRE and facilitate a better
understanding of the power system behavior and related primary and secondary equipment
during and after a disturbance. An analysis of the recorded data provides valuable information
that can be used to explain a disturbance, basis for change of IED setting plan, improve
existing equipment, and so on. This information can also be used in a longer perspective when
planning for and designing new installations, that is, a disturbance recording could be a part
of Functional Analysis (FA).
Disturbance report DRPRDRE, always included in the IED, acquires sampled data of all selected
analog and binary signals connected to the function blocks that is,

10 internal derived analog signals, and
•
352 binary signals
