3.4.3.1 Fault
scenarios.
Broken ring:
If the ring is broken (either by an unplugged ring cable or a restarted ring
board) a new Ring Master will automatically be appointed (by the ring
negotiation).
This new Ring Master will stop providing PCM clock to its MGU. In stead
the Holdover function of this MGU oscillator will guarantee a continuous
and stable PCM timing that can be distributed to all media gateways
having Ring boards.
Therefore the new Ring Master will continue to create the DECT Sync
signal without interruption. This DECT Sync will be distributed to all other
Ring boards as long as the fault situation remains.
