Module
To perform this installation, you need a straight-through twisted-pair cable
a maximum of 330 ft (100 m) long.
You must provide the twisted-pair cable. 3Com recommends the following
cables for European customers only:
■
Shielded twisted-pair cable (100 ohms), Level 5 data grade media cable, for
example, AT&T™ type 2061, 1061, 1261 or equivalent.
CAUTION:
This caution applies to customers in Europe only. To eliminate
cable noise emission in excess of VDE 0871 or CISPR22 (EN55022) for Class A
devices, the twisted-pair cable should be shielded and have connectors with
metallic backshells. Cable shields should be connected to backshells.
3Com recommends the following cables for all other customers, including
those in the U.S. and Canada:
■
Unshielded twisted-pair cable (100 ohms), Level 3 LAN and high-speed data
cable, for example, Anixter CM-00424BAG-3, Belden 1155A, or equivalent.
To cable the single-port RJ-45 module to a twisted-pair segment, use this
procedure:
1
Plug the RJ-45 connector on one end of the twisted-pair cable into the
RJ-45 port.
2
Plug the connector at the other end into a wall outlet, hub, or other device.
