CAUTION:
To eliminate cable noise emission in excess of FCC Part 5, and
CISPR22 (EN55022) specifications for Class A devices, the console cable
should be 100% shielded (Inmac
®
braid shielded or equivalent) and have
connectors with metallic backshells. Cable shields should be connected to
backshells.

Octopus (Hydra)
Cable
To connect directly to host, terminals, modems, or other serial devices,
3Com recommends an octopus cable (also known as a hydra cable) that
fans out the 50-pin Telco connector to eight RJ-12 connectors. The other
end of this cable terminates in a 50-pin bottom-entry male connector.
Figure 2-8 shows the octopus cable.
