MAC
Authentication
Select this option to authenticate each ESSID connection by using a client
computer’s MAC address and an associated RADIUS server. Even if a client
computer does not support 802.1x authentication its connection can still be
authenticated in this manner.
Note: When this option is enabled, the security setting does not
allow you to select any 802.1x method.
Enable WMM
Select this option to enable Quality of Service (QoS) data packet filtering based on
whether the data packet traffic is flagged as either video, voice, best effort, or
background. Depending on how data packet is flagged, selecting this option can
have a significant impact on perceived connection speeds.
Beacon Rate
Control
Select this option if you wish to tune the beacon distribution mechanism. You can
tune the system to provide customized beacon coverage. The higher the rate that
you select, the greater the beacon distribution on this ESSID.
Options are:
Basic
,
Normal
,
Increased
,
High
, and
Full
.
In Band
Management
Select this option to allow wireless management of the NXC-8160 using other
computers connected to it through this ESSID. In band management ESSIDs must
be on the same VLAN as the switch management VLAN.
Once this option is enabled, the VLAN setting is automatically updated to the same
management VLAN tag ID as set in the
LAN > LAN Settings
screen.
If enabled, in band management only allows an ESSID to have the following
security settings:
•
WPA/WPA2 Personal (TKIP/AES & Pre Shared Key Authentication)
•
WPA/WPA2 Enterprise (TKIP/AES & 802.1x Authentication)
Captive Portal
Select this option to set this ESSID as “captive portal restricted.” If enabled, the
ESSID VLAN tag ID is automatically assigned the same VLAN tag ID as specified in
the
Advanced > Portal
screen.
VLAN (1-4094)
A VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network) allows a physical network to be partitioned
into multiple logical networks. Devices on a logical network belong to one group.
Specify a VLAN ID number (between 1 and 4094) to have the ESSID belong to one
VLAN group. Otherwise, leave this field at its default (
none
).
Disassociation
Timeout (1-
3600)
Enter the duration (in seconds) that a connected computer can remain inactive
(meaning no data is sent to or from said computer) before the NXC-8160
automatically disconnects it from the network.
DTIM
A DTIM (Delivery Traffic Indication Message) is used to tell the wireless clients in
power-saving mode that a packet is about to be sent to them.Select a DTIM period
(from 1 to 5) (in beacon intervals). This indicates how many broadcast and multicast
packets can be transmitted to wireless clients between two DTIMs.
