Thickness of the valve hood (e) = 0.3 mm
Thickness of the crimped seal (J) = 0.5 mm
Target crimp height (CH) to set = 4.95 mm
The thickness of the crimped valve seal (J) depends on the kind of seal:
Kinds of seal
Crimped seal = thickness J

approximately 0.8 mm
a laminated seal, thickness 0.7
mm

Causes of the bad results of crimping
The list below does not include all difficulties. According to our experience, the bad results of
crimping may be caused by:
Aerosol container
valve
unsuitable settings
The container may have following faults:
damaged edge – in case of not being transported or stored properly
corroded edges – this kind of damage may appear in places with high level of humidity
weakened edge – it appears on aluminum tins with the twisted edge
split edge
Valve:
Using the wrong kind of valves – before starting production, check compatibility between
the valve and filled product
Unsuitable settings may cause the following effects:
too low crimp height ‒ chipping and deforming the edge, damage internal layer of lacquer,
protecting the tin
exceeding the suitable crimp height – leak
exceeding the suitable crimp diameter – damaging the internal protective layer of the tin
These unsuitable settings may cause leaks, which are often so small, that it can be noticed only
after storing for some time
