Measuring Piston Ring Gap
• Push the piston ring
(Figure 5-44, (3))
into a
cylinder bore approximately 30 mm (1.2 in.)
(Figure 5-44, (4))
from the bottom of the cylinder.
• Measure the piston ring gap
(Figure 5-44, (5))
with a feeler gauge.

Replacing the Piston Rings
• Thoroughly clean the ring grooves when
replacing piston rings
