MA IV User’s Guide
Glossary
full port replicator
A device designed for desktop use that provides the following ports:
USB, Printer, Serial, FDD (floppy drive), Mouse, Keyboard, Headphone,
Mic, Line In, and Video.
hot swapping
The act of removing one power source from the MA IV and replacing it
with another without the loss of data or shutting down the system.
image changeover
switch
A switch on the display unit that allows you to specify the side of the
headset on which you are mounting the display unit.
image reflector
The curved mirror that attaches to the display unit to reflect the monitor
image to your eye.
LAN
A Local Area Network. The MA IV can use a variety of PCMCIA cards to
connect to a LAN through RF wireless or cellular communications.
LED
Light Emitting Diodes. LEDs on the MA IV and battery charger indicate
the state of the CPU and battery respectively.

applications by letting you create links to diverse documents in their
native formats. Using

sources without loading additional applications.
MA IV
The Xybernaut MA IV wearable computer, a revolution in mobile
computers.
mini port replicator
A device designed primarily for mobile use that provides ports into
which you can plug either a keyboard and floppy drive or a serial and
parallel device.
mouse pointing device
A device on the top of the CPU that allows you to maneuver the cursor.
Combines with the left and right selection buttons to provide all the
capabilities of a fully functional PC mouse.
PCMCIA slots (PC slots)
Receptacles in the back of the CPU that can accept cards conforming to
PCMCIA (Personal Computer Memory Card International Association)
standards. The MA IV slots can accept two Type I and II or one Type III PC
cards.
