The MA IV CPU uses a hot swap power circuit which allows you
to change the power source while you use the MA IV without
powering the system off.
Hot Swapping Power Sources
To swap from one power source to another:

Put the CPU in Standby mode.
Refer to “Placing the MA IV in Standby Mode
(Windows 95 and 98)” on page 26 or “Placing the
MA IV in Standby Mode (Windows NT)” on page 27
for information appropriate for you Operating
System.

Prepare the replacement power source.
If you are preparing to replace a depleted battery
with a new battery, simply remove the original
battery from the holder and insert the charged
battery. Proceed to Step 5.
– If you are preparing to switch from the AC Adapter to a
battery pack as the new power source, prepare the
battery pack as described in “Preparing the Battery
Pack” on page 16.
– If you are preparing to switch from a battery pack to
the AC Adapter as the new power source, plug the
cord into an electrical outlet and the other end into the
battery charger.
