RECEPTION MODES
Reception Modes
Your multi-function machine has four reception modes as described below:
•
FAX The machine answers an incoming call and immediately goes into
fax receive mode. This is the normal AUTO ANSWERING mode.
•
TEL In TEL mode, automatic fax answering and reception is turned off.
You can receive a fax only by manually picking up the handset or external
phone to accept the call and then pressing the Start
button to receive
the fax.
•
ANS/FAX To use the ANS/FAX mode, you attach an answering machine
to the EXT jack on your fax machine. If the WorkCentre 490cx senses a
fax tone, it automatically switches to fax reception mode. However, if a fax
is not sensed, the WorkCentre 490cx routes the call to the answering
machine, and the caller can leave a voice message.
•
DRPD Distinctive Ring is a telephone company service which enables the
use of a single telephone line to answer several different telephone
numbers. The number used to call a phone with this feature is identified
by a distinctive ringing pattern consisting of various combinations of long
and short ringing tones. This only displays if it has been set up
("LEARNED").
