Using the Keyboard
A wireless keyboard is provided with your system. The keyboard is an input
device. Its keys can be divided into three major areas: typewriter keys, cursor-
control keys and numeric keys.
Typewriter Keys
Typewriter keys are similar to the keys on a typewriter. Several keys are added,
such as the
Ctrl, Alt, Esc
and lock keys, for special purposes.

Control
The
Control key
is
normally used in com-
bination with other
keys for program-
specific functions.
Alternate
Normally used in
combination with
other keys for
program-specific
functions.
Escape
Usually used
for stopping a
process.
Examples are
exiting a program
and canceling a
command. The
function depends
on the program
you are using.
Shift
The
Shift
key
is used
with alphabet let-
ter keys to pro-
duce uppercase
letters when typ-
ing. It is also
used in combi-
nation with other
keys for pro-
gram-specific
functions.
Caps Lock
Toggles the Caps
Lock on and off.
Windows Logo
Opens the Start menu.
It performs software-
specific functions when
used in combination
with other keys.
