Inserting and Removing a PC Card
Note:
• Some PC Cards require additional system resources. Before using such a
PC Card, you may have to free other system resources for the PC Card.
• Although some PC Cards can be inserted and removed without turning off
the computer, you should not remove or install PC Cards during Standby mode.
To insert a PC Card:
1. Locate the PC Card slot on the left side of the system.
2. Slide the PC Card, with its label facing the front of the system, into
the slot until the eject button pops out.
3. When a PC card is seated, the computer will detect it and try to install the
appropriate driver. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
To remove a PC Card:
1. Before removing the PC Card, you should first stop its operation from
within Windows XP. To stop the PC Card, double-click the
Safely
Remove Hardware
icon in the tool bar, select the PC Card and then click
Stop
. Windows will attempt to stop the device.
2. When Windows notifies you that it is safe to unplug the device, push
the eject button to release the card and then pull the card out of the slot.
