
Cursor-Control Keys
Note: The word “cursor” refers to the indicator on the screen that lets you know
exactly where on your screen anything you type will appear. It can take the form
of a vertical or horizontal line, a block, or one of many other shapes.
Cursor-control keys are generally used for editing purposes. They are:

Left
Moves the
cursor left
one space.
Right
Moves the
cursor
right one
space.
Up
Moves the
cursor up
one line.
Down
Moves
the cur-
sor down
one line.
Page Up
Moves the
page up.
Page Down
Moves the
page down.
Home
Moves the cursor to
the beginning of the
line or document.
End
Moves the cursor to the end
of the line or document.
Insert
Switches typing between
insert and over type modes.
Insert mode means any char-
acter typed will be inserted to
the current cursor position;
over type mode means any
character typed will overwrite
the text in the current cursor
position.
Delete
Deletes the
character to
the right of
the cursor
and moves
the following
text left one
space.
