Windows Media Player: Listening to audio CD's, MP3
and WMA compressed audio files
Media player is a powerful and easy-to-use application that provides feature
rich audio entertainment. As a standalone application media player allows you
to listen to audio content in virtually any format available. When connected
to the internet, media player expands its capabilities by offering internet radio
station playback as well as up to date information about your music.
This section explains the functionality that Windows Media Player has to offer
and provides basic operating instructions. For advanced operations, refer to the
Windows Media Player online help file for detailed information.
Using Windows Media Player with the remote control
The remote control gives you the freedom to control Windows Media Player
up to 20 feet away from your FusionPC.
Note: Windows Media Player must be initiated by pressing the CD/MP3 button
on the remote control in order for Media Player to accept remote commands.
The remote control provides limited functionality from within the Windows
Media Player application. Advanced media player features can only be accessed
through the media player control panel. Any options set by the user via the
media player control panel remain in effect when operating the media player
by remote control.
1. Insert an Audio CD, a CD with MP3/WMA files or copy MP3/WMA files
to the directory C:\MP3.
2. Press the CD/MP3 button on the remote control to load Windows Media
Player. By default, media player will first search the optical drive, then the
digital media directory C:\MP3. If no media is present, a dialogue box will
appear prompting the user to insert/copy media to one of the search destina-
tions.
3. The Windows Media Player control panel window will appear on the screen.
If an audio CD is found it will begin to play automatically. If MP3/WMA
files are found, they will be automatically queued into the playlist.
Note: MP3/WMA files can only be queued via the remote control if they are
located in the root directory of the CD. MP3/WMA files within directories on
a CD can only be selected by using the mouse.
4. Use the remote control to interact with the player as needed. The following
diagram shows the various remote control buttons supported by Windows
Media Player:
