6. Carefully remove the System Node from the system.
7. (1U mounting kit only, skip for 3U mounting kits) For safety, push the rails that are extending out of
the front of the rack back into the rack.
a. Press the white release lever on the inside of the outer rails towards the front of the System Node.
b. Push the rails into the rack.
8. (1U mounting kit only, skip for 3U mounting kits) Remove the rails from the faulty System Node
a. Unscrew the two screws that attach the rails to the System Node.
b. Slide the rails from the faulty System Node.
9. Record the serial number for return purposes. The serial number and part number are located on a
pull-out tab located at the top of the System Node.
3.1.4.2 Installing a System Node
The installation procedure for the System Node differs based on the mounting kit used. For more
information about 3U mounting kits, refer to
Replacing 3U mounting kits
on page 62. To install a
System Node:
1. (1U mounting kit only, skip for 3U mounting kits) Attach the inner rails to the new System Node.
a. Align the holes in the inner rail with the pegs on the side of the System Node.
b. Slide the rail forward to lock it in place.

c. Secure the inner rail to the System Node using one of the screws.
d. Repeat these steps to attach the other inner rail.
