7. Use the needle-nose pliers to fit the APCI corona pin into the mounting
contact. Ensure that the pin tip aligns with the sample cone tip.

8. Close the source enclosure door, and fasten the securing clips.
9. Close the instrument’s front access door.
To obtain an ion beam and tune the instrument for APCI mode
Obtain an ion beam and tune the instrument as described in the Waters
Quattro Premier XE Mass Spectrometer Operator’s Guide .
Caution:
To avoid damage to the UV lamp when operating in APCI
mode, ensure that the lamp drive assembly is fully retracted from the
source enclosure.
