e) Do not overload the vehicle and/or its engine. The maximum load may be
imposed on the engine, however, do not let it continue long. Overload may be
stated when, pressing the accelerating pedal, the engine does not react with
increasing rotations.
f) Do not hezitate in reducing gears on ascents or when reducing the vehicle’s
speed.
g) Avoid abrupt brake and acceleration.
h) Observe regorously the intervals of changing oil and other maintenance
items that should be fulfilled in an anticipated manner, during the breaking-in
regime.
ENGINE STARTING AND STOPPAGE
Certainly, you know the safety measures and meaning of every indicator on the
panel of instruments. Besides, see the items that should be inspected every day
before starting the engine (previous pages). Get acquainted also with operation
of the commands and controls before put the vehicle into function.
Finally, follow the procedure below to activate the engine and star t the
vehicle:
STARTING WITH COLD ENGINE
a) Check if the parking brake is activated;
b) Get the speed-selector lever in neutral position (dead point) or get the lever of
the automatic gearbox in position N;
c) Switch off all the electrical accessories of the vehicle that do not need to be
switched on;
d) Activate the starting switch setting it in position 3 (starting);
e) Keep the engine operating idly during 1 minute before starting motion.
NOTE: Do not press the accelerator during the starting.
VEHICLE STARTING
1 minute after the engine starting (in case of cold engine according to the
abovegiven description) the vehicle may start its motion.
NOTES:
If the engine is cold, the motion may be started, however, without exposing it to
extreme rotation and load conditions.
a) Release the parking brake;
b) Activate the 1st gear and release softly the clutch pedal;
c) Press, gradually, the accelerator pedal to obtain correct acceleration and speed;
d) Increase the gears progressively as needed.
PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN WHEN STARTING THE ENGINE
