CHAPTER 3: OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
PHASEMASTER™ 6 DIRECT ENERGY WELDING CONTROL
990-083
3-5
Alarm A2 indicates that an Emergency Stop signal was received from the user's equipment. Operation cannot
resume until the signal is removed. The error message will be displayed until the signal is removed. See
Appendix A, Emergency Stop.
Machine Alarm A3
Alarm A3 indicates that the Footswitch stayed closed after the welding sequence completed, preventing the
PM6 from returning to the RUN State. Release the Footswitch to clear the error and resume the RUN State.
Machine Alarm A4
Alarm A4 indicates that the Force Firing Switch in the Weld Head did not close within 10 seconds after the 1-
Level Footswitch or the second level of a 2-Level Footswitch closed. This is normally caused by the head
hitting the Downstop before sufficient force has been applied to the workpiece to actuate the Force Firing
Switch. Either adjust downstop or increase the length of the upper electrode. Sometimes this condition is
caused by insufficient air pressure. If it is appropriate, increase the air pressure slightly. Press [PROGRAM] to
erase the display message. Press [RUN] to resume welding.
NOTE:
Later model PM6's accept [RUN] to clear the error message.
Machine Alarm A5
Alarm A5 indicates a PM6 malfunction. The Schedule information was not properly stored in Memory.
Attempt to "save" then "select" Schedules 0 through 7. If the alarm persists, the PM6 should be serviced by a
qualified technician.
