Footswitch Weld Abort On/Off
Footswitch Weld Abort is determined by the position of a jumper on the PM6's internal Input/Output
Control Board. See Chapter 2, figure 2-5. The PM6 determines the position of this jumper when power is
first applied to it and displays the result of this analysis on the FOOTSWITCH WELD ABORT Indicator
located on its front panel.
Alarms
The PM6 issues the following alarms, based upon the causes indicated. All alarms terminate or inhibit the
welding sequence. Alarm conditions are processed in a priority order which corresponds to the list which
follows:
•
SCR ALARM
PM6’s output SCR’s are defective. The SCR ALARM on the front panel will
light. The output ECR’s control the flow of current to the welding
transformer. Repair by a qualified technician is required.
•
MACHINE ALARM
When lit, this indicator together with the word “SEE” which will appear in the
WELD CYCLE Field and the following messages which appear in the HOLD
CYCLE Field, provide the user with the following information: Alarm
Messages A2 through A4 will be erased from the display as soon as the alarm
condition is corrected or whenever [PROGRAM] is pressed.
A2 - Emergency Stop signal was received from the user's equipment.
A3 - The Footswitch remained closed after the weld sequence was complete,
preventing the PM6 from returning to the RUN State.
A4 - The Force Firing Switch in the Weld Head did not close within 10
seconds after the Footswitch closed, or the Force Firing Switch remained
closed after the weld sequence was completed.
A5 - [SAVE] was pressed and the Schedule information was not properly
stored in Memory by the PM6. This indicates that repair by a qualified
technician is required.
Alarm Buzzer
During alarm conditions, an audible tone (buzzer) is generated for 5 seconds. It can be immediately
silenced by pressing [PROGRAM]. (Later model PM6’s also accept [RUN] to silence the alarm).
