photographs and video clips are saved on a memory card when one has been
inserted into the camera. Memory cards can be purchased from, for example, a
photography shop.
5.2.1
Inserting a memory card
Follow the instructions given below to insert a memory card.
1.
Open the battery compartment (17, figure 1) on the side of the camera by
sliding the cover slightly downwards and then flipping it open.
2.
Place the memory card into the camera as indicated on the battery
compartment (see figure 5). Press the memory card into the slot until it can
go no further.
Note:
The memory card can only be inserted into the camera in one way. Do
not force the card into the slot. This could damage both the memory card
and the camera.
3.
Close the battery compartment again by pushing it closed and sliding it into
place
The external memory card must first be formatted for optimal use (see chapter
6.4.3). Once the memory card has been inserted correctly, the storage indicator
(item 3, table 13) will appear on the LCD screen.
5.2.2
Removing a memory card
Note:
Never remove a memory card whilst the camera is still processing data
(indicator flashes red (15, figure 1)). This may result in the loss of data or
damage.
Follow the instructions given below to remove a memory card.
1.
Open the battery compartment (17, figure 1) on the side of the camera by
sliding the cover slightly downwards and then flipping it open.
2.
Remove the memory card by pushing it so that the lock is released. Remove
the memory card from the camera (see figure 6).
3.
Close the battery compartment again by pushing it closed and sliding it into
place
The storage symbol will disappear from the LCD screen.
5.2.3 Storage

The table below gives an indication of how many photographs or the length of video
clips which can be saved on a memory card.
Note:
The number of photographs or the length of the video clips can vary. This
depends on the colour saturation of the photographs or video clips.
