Thank you for purchasing the Troy Lee Designs "TLD" STAGE helmet: one of the most technologically advanced,
lightweight full-face bicycle helmets on the planet.
Advancing helmet safety has always been and continues to be a top priority at Troy Lee Designs. The STAGE helmet is
no exception. The STAGE helmet has a state-of-the-art co-molded EPS and EPP patent pending impact liner. Combin-
ing EPS with EPP in the liner and pairing it with MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System) technology provides
better energy management during low, mid and high-speed impacts; and may reduce rotational forces transferred to a
rider’s brain during certain impacts. Bottom line, Troy Lee Designs and the STAGE helmet have raised the bar even
higher when it comes to rider safety.
You can ride with confidence knowing the STAGE has been validated by weekend warriors, top professionals and all
riders in between as one of the safest, most technically advanced and functionally beautiful, lightweight full face
helmets. Thanks again for choosing the STAGE. Peace and wheelies!

WARNING
FAILURE TO HEED ANY OF THESE WARNINGS MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH
The TLD Stage helmet is a bicycle helmet to be used while riding a bicycle or ebike. It is not intended for use with
motorcycles or motorized vehicles, other than ebikes. This helmet complies with U.S. CPSC Safety Standard for Bicycle
Helmets for Persons Age 5 and Older, 15 USC §6001-6006 (16 CFR PART 1203). This helmet is designed to protect from an
impact caused by collision of the head with an obstacle while cycling, it has passed the EN1078:2012+A1:2012 to show
conformity to the EHSR of EU 2016/425.
1. The function of the helmet is to reduce the risk of a head injury in an accident. No helmet can protect the wearer
against all possible impacts or injuries, nor is it possible to predict if a helmet will protect you in any given accident.
Depending on the type of impact, even a low speed accident can result in a serious injury or fatality.
2. No helmet can provide the same level of impact protection at the edge of the helmet as may be afforded when the
impact occurs higher up on the shell.
3. The helmet will not protect the parts of your head that are not covered. The purpose of the helmet is to minimize the
risk of head injuries. The helmet is not designed to protect your neck or spine from injury. It will not protect you against
head injuries that are not caused by impacts, such as violent shaking.
4. For maximum head protection, the helmet must be of a proper fit and the retention system [straps] must be securely
fastened under the chin. Failure to ensure a proper fit or securely fasten the helmet is dangerous as the helmet could come
off or slip into an improper position in an accident resulting in severe head or neck injury or death. Even a correctly fitted
helmet can be ejected off the head in some accidents, resulting in injury or death.
5. This helmet should not be used by children while climbing or doing other activities when there is a risk of strangula-
tion/hanging if the child gets trapped with the helmet. A helmet is NOT a toy. DO NOT allow your small children to play
with your helmet. They can accidentally damage it or hurt themselves. It is also possible that they could choke on the
buckles on the straps.
6. DO NOT adjust the retention system while riding.
7. DO NOT expose your helmet to solvents or other chemical substances, or apply paint, dyes, decals, stickers or tape to
your helmet as this could irreparably damage the helmet, reduce its protective capability and increase the possibility of
injury or death in an accident.
8. DO NOT leave your helmet in the car exposed to sunlight, near any heat source, or expose your helmet to temperature
above 130°F as this could irreparably damage the helmet, reduce its protective capability and increase the possibility of
injury or death in an accident.
9. A helmet, like all products, may wear out over time depending upon its use and the amount of care that it is given.
Please check your helmet every time before use for damage and do not use a damaged helmet. Troy Lee Designs
recommend retiring a helmet after THREE (3) years from purchase even if there is no visible damage or defect. Of course
with hard or frequent use this time may be reduced. Even with minimal use, a helmet may be affected by things like the
acids and oils in sweat, hair care products, pollution, exposure to UV rays, corrosive dirt or mud, being tossed around, etc. If
your helmet becomes less than snug in fit, or damaged, it should be replaced.
10. Helmets are designed to absorb ONE impact. After your helmet has been involved in one impact you
must destroy it and replace it. Your helmet is designed to distribute the localized force of an impact over a larger area
on the helmet. Even if your helmet looks undamaged its useful life is finished after one impact and will no longer
provide protection in an accident. With a sufficient impact, the helmet’s impact absorbing liner (EPS or “expanded
polystyrene”) becomes compacted. Once this has happened, the helmet no longer has the ability to absorb further
impacts and protect your head. If you have any doubts, for example, if you drop your helmet or if it is hit by something
and you are not sure if the impact was sufficient to damage the helmet, contact Troy Lee Designs before you use the
helmet again. Illustration depicts damage to the inner EPS liner after an impact that may not be visible to the eye.
11. DO NOT modify your helmet. It is very dangerous to drill holes or cut the shell and/or the shock absorption liner.
Modifications can seriously weaken the helmet. Modifying the retention system weakens it, and may render the helmet
useless in an accident. Removing parts such as the mouth guard or rubber face rim can expose edges, which may
injure you in an accident. Never sand or paint the outside of the helmet. Always use approved Troy Lee Designs parts
when replacing visors, screws, pads or any other part. A weakened helmet may not provide head protection.
12. Always check your helmet before use. Check your visor screws and tighten if necessary. Check for cracks in the
helmet. If you find cracks or damage, stop using the helmet immediately. Plastic components may start to wear out
before 5 years from purchase. If you find deterioration in any part of a component, either replace that component or
get a new helmet. If any parts come loose and/or fall off while you’re riding, your vision may be blocked resulting in
serious personal injury or death. Check the security of the retention system and
always make sure that the comfort liner and the cheek pads are attached before
you use the helmet.
13. DO NOT purchase used helmets or any used parts for the helmet. DO NOT
sell your helmet.
14. DO NOT wear anything between helmet and head.
15. DO NOT allow others to use your helmet and DO NOT use someone else’s
helmet.
16. Wearing a helmet may reduce your hearing ability. Be aware of your
environment.
17. Ride responsibly and do not take extra risks just because you are wearing a helmet.
18. DO NOT hang or hook your helmet on anything. It may cause damage to helmet reducing the effectiveness of
helmet’s protection.
19. DO NOT drop your helmet on a hard surface. Doing so could permanently damage it. If unsure if you have damaged
the helmet, contact Troy Lee Designs.
20. DO NOT mount any rigid objects to the inside or outside of your helmet other than those sold by Troy Lee Designs.
This can weaken the helmet or cause injuries to you in an accident, by increasing the force on the helmet or the object
could become a projectile.
DETERMINING HELMET SIZE
Measure your head size. Wrap a tape measure horizontally around your head about one inch (25mm) above your
eyebrows and even with the tops of your ears to obtain the largest measurement. Using the size chart below, select
the helmet that is closest to your head size; i.e. “M/L” helmet is best for head sizes (hat) 71/8 to 7 3/8; (CM) 57-59;
(Inches) 22 3/8 - 23 1/4. The chart is just a guide to give you an idea of head/helmet sizing; it is not a substitute for
trying the helmet on and using the steps below.
TRY THE HELMET ON
Firmly grip chin straps and expand the helmet opening by pulling the straps outward and then slide the helmet onto
your head. Pull the chin straps only, not the chin strap covers. Pulling the covers may tear them. If the helmet is not
snug, it is too big for you. Even if you feel it is difficult to put it on, please use the smallest helmet possible. You should
feel a snug fit. The helmet can only protect if it fits well and you should try on different sizes and choose the size which
feels secure and comfortable on your head.
