AV Record Quality
HDD
DVD-RAM
You can select from 5 recording settings of combined
picture and sound quality settings prior to recording.
Actual selection is applied as a default setting for the
normal recording or programmed recording.
To make a combination of picture and sound
quality settings.
1) Press the / buttons to select the desired
item (Mode, Rate, or Audio Quality).
2) Press the ADJUST button to change the
setting of each item.
To apply the combination of picture and sound
quality settings.
1) Press the / buttons to select a media to
record on (HDD or DVD).
2) Press the ADJUST button to change the
setting.
You can confirm the available recording time for
the selected setting on the bottom screen.
3) Press the ENTER button.
Notes
• A combination of picture and sound quality settings can be
set for HDD and DVD-RAM respectively.
• You can change the combination of picture and sound
quality settings in STOP mode, when setting “Rate
Conversion Dubbing” (see
page 92), or in the selection
of the “Listing Spaces Remaining of discs” from the quick
menu” of the Library display. Either of the above methods
updates the setting of this recorder.
• If you set “SP” or “LP”, you cannot select “L-PCM”.
• Depending on the sound quality settings, the upper limit for
the picture quality setting differs.
• You can adjust the manual rate for picture quality by
0.2 Mbps from 2.0 to 9.2. (You cannot set the rate from 1.4
to 2.0)
Audio Input Level
HDD
DVD-RAM
Sets the audio input level of recorded sound.
Press the / buttons to select the desired item , and
then press the / buttons to adjust the input level.
TV/CATV (L):
Sets the input level for the left channel.
(R):
Sets the input level for the right channel.
Line1~3
(L):
Sets the input level for the left channel of the external
input connectors.
(R):
Sets the input level for the right channel of the external
input connectors.
DVD-R Broadcast Record
HDD
DVD-RAM
Sets the DVD-R Broadcast Record Mode (picture or
sound information) to select whether you record a
content that can be copied to DVD-R.
Off:
This setting is not available for DVD-R recording.
Depending on picture and sound quality you cannot
copy pre-recorded content to DVD-R.
Main (main sound):
Records content in DVD-R Compatible Mode. When
recording the multiplex broadcasting, the original main
sound be recorded as a stereo sound.
SAP (sub-sound):
Records content in DVD-R Broadcast Record. When
recording the multiplex broadcasting, the original sub-
sound be recorded as a stereo sound.
Note
• When you set the manual rate of the picture quality to from
3.0 to 3.8 and set this mode to “Main” or “SAP”, the picture
quality may become lower than when you set this mode to
“Off”.
