Connecting Components

Adding a SCSI hard disk drive

Installing SCSI HDDs

To install a SCSI hard disk drive (SCSI ID 0 and 1) in the 3.5-inch device bay:

Set the SCSI ID for the hard disk drive. For instructions, see

Jumper settings for

SCSI HDDs

on page 51.

Follow the instructions (except for the jumper settings) in

Installing IDE HDDs

page 48.

To install a SCSI HDD (SCSI ID 2 and 3) in the 5.25-inch device bay:

Remove the front and side panels. For instructions, see

Removing and replacing the

server panels

on page 33.

Set the SCSI-ID for the hard disk drive. For instructions, see

Jumper settings for

SCSI HDDs

on page 51.

Attach the adapter plate for the 5.25-inch device bay to the hard disk with the four
screws on the back side. Use "Screw A" supplied with the server.

Attach the two rails to the adapter plate for the 5.25-inch device bay and fasten each
rail with the two screws.
