Backing up your files
Backing up your files means copying individual files to a diskette
or copying entire sections of your hard disk to another device,
such as a tape drive.
Copying to a diskette
To back up your files to a diskette:

Insert a formatted diskette into the diskette drive.

Double-click the
My Computer
icon on the Windows
desktop.

Double-click the drive that contains the file you want to copy.

Double-click the folder that contains the file, then click the
file you want to copy.
HINT: As in earlier versions of Windows, you can use the Ctrl
and Shift keys to select more than one file.

Send To

Click the icon for the diskette drive (drive A:).
HINT: You can also back up a file to a diskette by clicking the
file (or files) you want to back up, click the secondary button,
then point to
Send To
and click
3.5-inch Floppy (A:)

Using the optional DVD-ROM drive
DVD (Digital Versatile Disc) is primarily a video medium.
Because it provides a significant increase in data storage, it can
support features that are not available on any other video platform.
